About TheSourceress
My name is Katharine Robinson; I am excited by the ever developing social aspects of the web. I channel this excitement into helping companies identify the people they should be engaging with online.
I can usually be found on the Internet masquerading as TheSourceress.
Why TheSourceress?
I chose the name when I started working with a specialist Executive Search consultancy in 2008. In this field, those in internet research are often referred to as Talent Sourcers. TheSourceress is just a little bit of word manipulation to make me sound mysterious and interesting. I’ll let you judge whether or not that has worked.
My Projects
I get involved in all sorts of things - you might know me through any or all of them, here’s a quick breakdown;
Sourcing and Recruitment:
I am an Internet Talent Sourcer with a passion for the social web. As a part of this I have a sporadically updated posterous blog - The UK Sourcer’s Posterous.
Throughout 2010 I worked on a self employed basis, providing social media guidance to small businesses as well as Internet sourcing and training to recruitment companies and direct employers.
In March 2010 I won the coveted title of Grand Master Sourcer at the SourceCon conference in San Diego.
I have been a track leader at several #tru (The Recruiting Unconference) events and spoken at Smart Resourcing 2010 (from Recruiter Magazine), Direct Sourcing (from The FIRM) and SourceCon 2011 in NYC. Find out more on my speaking page.
In January 2011 I joined Capgemini Consulting as part of their UK recruitment team.
Tweetups, Meetups and Geekups:
I am a huge fan of twitter, especially as a way to discover new, interesting people. This explains my love of Tweetups. I was one of the founding attendees of Reading Tweetup and have helped to organise two very successful Reading Twestivals.
I am also a founder of Newbury Tweetup.
You might occasionally find me at #tvsmc or #rdggeek too.
More Cheese Monday:
This is a project that was born out of my love of cheese. It comes and goes as I don’t always have time to be blogging about cheese. Have a look at the More Cheese Monday blog and follow @MoreCheeseMon on Twitter for more details and talk about cheese.
What’s next?
I am speaking at more events, which I greatly enjoy. I feel that the UK recruitment industry still has a lot to learn about how useful the internet can be for finding talented people, so I am always willing to talk sourcing and social recruiting. I believe in sharing knowledge.
Please Note: I would like to point out that the views expressed on this blog are my own and not those of my employer.
